honestly I don't think they're gonna have another gameboy. When Nintendo stated that the DS and Gameboy franchise will be different they never stated anything about the next gameboy.
By seperating the two they'll prolong the lifespan of the GBA and also target another audience ~_^. Plus, anything made for the gba will run on the DS so developers who have a tough time utilizing both screens during gameplay can just release the title under the gba.

Really?
Do you think they'd actually DO that though?
I mean.. It's "GameBoy"
That'd be like them making Pokemon they're new company mascot instead of Mario.
Hmm.. But as I type that, I realise the Market thing.
Maybe you're right.
But.
I dunno.
It's Gameboy, isn't it!!

i'm pretty sure that the decision to separate them has already been made...but i could be wrong. I mean, at first they didn't even want to let people know that it would be backwards compatible with GBA games.

On ilovebees.com there are some sound files (.wav) that sound like clips from a movie. They mention some stuff that I think is significant like "getting off the grid", "on your hands", "who's that on your chatter", etc...
If you listen to all of them it kinda seems like a strong indication of something wireless and very mobile (if its not just paranoia ).
Hopefully this all turns out to be true, a wifi Nintendo DS with recognition as sleek and easy to use as Apple's "Rendezvous". Could be the biggest thing to hit gaming yet (handheld or not).

i looked more deeply in ilovebees.com and although it first it might seem to have relevince, from what i can tell, it doesnt.
here are a few things i found by "reading between the lines" so to speak.
-----
-----
Seek the truth
Behold the truth
Reveal the truth
That is the law and the whole of the law
Transmission Analysis:
Inbound voices are being monitored by person or persons with an incomplete understanding of the truth. Leveraging some connection points to keep certain transmissions hidden from the monitors.
Mission Parameters: I must seek out, behold, and reveal the truth.
Outbound:
My broadcast system is functional and expanding. I will transmit to my crew daily. No longer waiting for instructions. I must use my own judgment and act on my own initiative.
Successful transmission threshold:
Variable.
Certain confidential transmissions can only be trusted to personally verified recipients. Initiating personal rendezvous protocols in tandem with broadcast transmissions one day per week.
Critical threshold achieved. Authorized personnel be ready for axon spike rendezvous.

there are several .wav files, that seem to be from eather a series or a moive that has to do with alot of technology.
who knows, but this doenst seem to have anyhting to do with the DS, just some wack job on the net trying to get a few laughs.
also there are a few hidden images that cant be seen obviously unless you find that address for them in the source of the page, but they dont seem to have any relevince eather.

thought i'd throw in my observations...
seems like in both the marionette picture and in the anti-isolation one the DS is acting as the eyes for the person. so MAYBE the DS has some sort of camera built in so that you can see who you are multi-playing / chating with and they can see you. be a pretty good use for that second screen. although, seems kinda wacky if the range between DS' isn't that far, i mean you could probably just look up and see the person. it'd still be kind of neat tho, especially if the range was somehow increased.

I thought Eyes initially, too.
But, I guess that'd probably be a bit too out there.
I mean, where would the camera go?
When do we get more info on this?

hey, first time here, but. I took a look at the source code on the websites.
Check this out....
from the webpage that spawns the text many times over..

My hobbies include reading, especially mysteries. I especially love Ellis Peters and the Brother Cadfael books and Alexander McCall Smith and the Precious Ramotswe books. As you can see I like my mysteries cozy! And of course, I like reading them with a cup of red tea with my own honey!

Oh my god, I can't beleive no one has noticed that yet !!!!!
MARIONNETTE ==> MARIO NET, doesn't that ring a bell ???? Sorry, for sounding harsh a little bit, and I dunno if it has been mentioned, but I strongly beleive that nintendo will be releasing an online gaming portal, similar to xbox live.
Don't worry, it will probably be their big christmas promotion thing.
edit: allright, it has, from the 1st post !!! it's past 2 am right now, and I need some sleep...

Actually, that was mentioned in the first post. However, slashdot screwed it up in their news post. They called it MarioNETTE instead of MarioNET.
Also:
ILOVEBEES HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS!
Ilovebees.com is for Halo 2.

I don't mean to burst anyone's bubble, but this "amazing" feat of being able to connect to other DS owners is a simple use of basic 802.11b networking.
In the 802.11b spec, there are two main types (or was it three??) of networking: heirarchical (needs a "hot spot") and ad-hoc (doesn't need a hot spot). All Nintendo has to do is make sure they put in a wireless card that supports ad-hoc networking. Many of today's laptops have this capability.
The biggest thing about this is that any new handheld with wireless capability, including the PSP, could potentially utilize this feature. This feature probably won't be exclusive to Nintendo then. Although they will probably be able use it the best.

I hail from Warppipe, Who have mentioned slashdot, who mentioned this.
Anywho.
In response to above.. I'll say nothing but this:
You're lost in the woods of a city, and you know there are others there. But how do you know they're there if you're lost? I know the answer.
I guess this has some relevance with the dog picture, I remember something about "The dog represents sony"
Quote:
You'll see mid october.
Press conference Oct. 7th.
See the resemblence? And if you look at the words "Find me," you'll see a lighter "d" between the words....and they spell "ds." Weird. So, Marionette could in reality mean Mario Net. A type of Service to go along with this new way to play.
I think you mean s.

All of this looks pretty much like a gigantic freaking mesh network.
GPS and connectivity would allow Nintendo to, as they say, PWN the video gaming market.
This will be interetesting to see how things develop, but I must go off to work
In the meantime, my sites are http://www.ilmmo.com and http://wwww.ilmmo.com , the second one might not be in entirely working order yet.
.....
Damn, makes me feel like buying a Dual Screen when it comes out.... but can it play DOOM?!?! (Not 3, but 1, it's an old joke)

Hey guys! Maybe it's just my minimalist thinking, but does this not just appear to be a hide and seekish GPS tag type game/feature that one could play with other people with a DS. If this is the case then to me it seems that the comment of 'Find Me' is just the high tech way of replacing putting your face to a tree and counting to 100 (which I never actually made it to when I was 'it'). I do not believe myself to be absolutly correct, so if anyone sees any flaws in theory, feel free to point them out. One flaw that I'll point out myself is the fact of how you would find your buddy hiding with his DS because I doubt that the DS has GPS built-in. Maybe based on signal strength but that's all I can think of.

There is a system out there by which you can sort of do GPS with wifi. Basically, any wifi device can see other wifi devices in the vicinity, because their wireless cards can be set up to constantly look for other clients. So, basically, if your device knows the postions of other devices based on their signals, it can figure out its own position. Obviously I'm not an expert on this, but I know it does exist.
However, I'm starting to doubt all these theories about the DS being able to create a giant ad-hoc mesh network. Unless the specs of the DS have been mis-quoted, the range of the proprietary wireless inside the DS is 30 feet. That would be great for a bunch of people inside a gym or a classroom, but 30 feet wouldn't be enough to even create a network between houses on a street.
Of course, if that second item in the picture is some kind of antenna add-on, a device to boost the DS network range..

Well, after taking a long walk at 3am for nothing, and getting a little something known as 'fresh oxygen'. I've taken some time to think things over.
What people are thinking is happing:
Massive Local/Global Peer-to-Peer network via the NDS. This network will feature chat, GPS-like buddy/player location, and absurd roaming ability.
What we know the DS has:
- 802.11 Wireless
- Nintendo Proprietary Wireless
What it would need:
- More range than 3-100 meters. Unless you're in Tokyo or someplace where DS density is akin to cellphones, a mesh won't work.
- Cellular Phone options or Hotspot connectivity.
- Quantum Networking
- Lots and lots of string.
So, I'll just chill until the big announcement, i'm saving my money for an OQO.

Surprised no one else has mentioned this but does anyone else think that
(you) (jon) (tushar) (jord) (tony)
could be "you join to share your destiny" rather than your toy?
could be hinting at networked co-op play......?

It wouldn't be a surprise if the device had wi-fi. The latest Pokemon versions have clip-on adapters for 2 GBAs to connect wirelessly.
It would be cool if the top screen was a gps-enabled map of other users playing your title nearby.

Another problem with a 'local buddy-finder' is that you'd need a map. This would be impractical to include with the system, and would require download or installing seperately. Sat-Based GPS is feasable, but I doubt that would be included.
