And the lyrics don't mean anything that the title hasn't already stated: Our Happiness Is Guaranteed.

Odd, the new DS commercial teaser I just saw online (My NDA happens to touch on 'pre-release materials, so I won't link) flashes the words 'okay good' in some messy static near the end.

Hmmmm.

A Guess

Postby Cool C on Thu Sep 30, 2004 2:57 am

I think I figured it out:

I've never seen a picture of the DS from the back. I tried looking it up, but found nothing. My guess is that there is something in the back that they're hiding, such as a camera, or a wireless antenna, or something like that, I don't know. But whatever it is, it's something they're hiding, because usually there is also a back picture of systems.

Another thing to add to that idea: the kid is facing his DS at the dog. Maybe he's taking it's picture?

Dumb? Do your research. Dean posted that it would have no relation to a GPS unit. Don't call us dumb, cuase WE all know the facts so far.

I was totally in agreement with you till I was looking over the DS material on IGN and visited http://touch-ds.jp/fla.html They have the Japanese DS commercial there and you can clearly see the back. It looked pretty plain with the typical FCC like sticker on the back.

Good idea anyways. There might be something there still but as far as I can tell nothing special on the back. I do still find it odd there are no photos of the back at all. I was thinking maybe they had a media slot or something for storage.

or maybe it has a hypnotic spinning disk on the back so that if you see any nintendo haters in the vicinity you can just show them the disk and they will immediately go buy some nintendo merchandise...

Yeah, I saw that commercial. To point something out, though, they don't have a very good close up of the back. Also, they only show it for a few seconds.

That's one of the possibilities that I was considering. So if you didn't have a hotspot you could hook the DS up to your cellphone and use that to play on the internet.

To add to my camera thing, what if you enter some information into the DS when you first start it up. I heard somewhere (sorry I can't back up my info) that you enter the time into the DS (similar to entering the time on the GameCube). What if you enter, perhaps, a picture. This could also explain the DS being over the eyes of the marionette. And one more thing: if the thing next to the DS in the marionette IS a microphone, since it's over the marionette's mouth, you may be able to speak to people, using the MICROPHONE, while online.

thats one of the only solutions i can think of to get a huge range. however, i'm not a hardware junkie, so i have no clue how powerful the 820whatever protocol is.

if the cell phone was how it worked, i wonder if it would just use the amplified signal, or if it would use anything that a cell phone company could charge you for

The 802.11 media is quite diverse in range. However, I'm not positive of this, but the longest jump of distance with 802.11 was 28 miles with a pringle can antenna (Not sure). So, why is nintendo limiting the range of the Wi-Fi? Well, they aren't. Not directly.

It's all about the antenna. If the DS had a bigger antenna, then it's range would increase exponentially. Thus, I pose the following question. What if the mouth of the marionette is indeed an external antenna? Think about it.

The DS are the eyes of the person. It provides sight, vision. But, the mouth is where the talking is done, and the DS has a weak voice by itself. Perhaps the mouth isn't just something they needed to fill in, maybe the symbolism is the clue.

that makes sense, especially since there are also rumors floating around about an undisclosed perephrial.

i guess it would be sold seperately.

what do you kids think?

Not a bad idea. What if it's the thing that's on the back that they may be hiding? The only thing is that I've never seen an antenna like that before. It also looks like a hub from a certain perspective. Look at the picture normally, not from the side or anything. With a few missing details, that could be a hub. There's also a thin line above the holes, I believe.
